Great and solid bike, sketchy parts

I got the white Fat Tuesday LS in late December of 2022, it’s a solid cruiser and doesn’t squeak or rattle at all. My only complaints about this bike comes from the drivetrain and drivetrain components. Listed on the Tuesday website at the time of purchase, it stated specifically “SHIMANO or Suntour” shifters or derailleurs and a Shimano freewheel. However the Fat Tuesday LS I purchased came with both a Microshift derailleur and shifter. The freewheel looked to be unbranded, and upon further inspection the only words I was able to find on it was Tri-Diamond above the locking splines. Shifting was loud and would grind shifting from 2 to 1 with the large difference in the MegaRange gear ratios. I ended up replacing all the drivetrain parts with Shimano parts that were advertised on the Tuesday website with the exception of the shifter. The freewheel I replaced with the Shimano MF-TZ500-7 14-34T, the derailleur with the Shimano RD-TY300 6/7 speed, and the grip shifter with the Shimano SL-M315-7R Rapid Fire trigger shifter. The bike now shifts like a dream. Silent shifting up and down the entire freewheel, as it should have been from the factory. Unfortunately with the parts, tools and labor that it cost to perform these replacements I can not recommend this bicycle unless you’re a bicycle enthusiast with the tools readily available to perform the overhaul yourself as I did. Another note, the derailleur was significantly out of alignment from the factory, making shifting unpredictable. Some days it would be fine and other days it would struggle shifting up from 1 to 2 as well as down from 7 to 6. No amount of barrel adjusting can fix that. I purchased an alignment tool which after some tinkering aligned it up perfectly. Other than all of the drivetrain issues I love this cruiser. The fat tires and solid aluminum frame makes this one serious stylish cruiser. Tuesday has since updated their website with up to date parts that are installed on their cruisers as far as I can tell. I wish that at the time I purchased my cruiser Tuesday stated something along the lines of “due to parts availability some components may be substituted” instead of pulling this bait and switch. Not a single Tuesday bicycle I looked at during and shortly after my buying period came with the listed Shimano or Suntour parts, they were all microshift with unbranded/potentially Tri-Diamond parts. Overall, very pleased with the bicycle, but only after the entire drivetrain overhaul. If you are purchasing this bicycle from a bike shop, look for the Shimano shifter, derailleur and MegaRange freewheel combination. This will ensure smooth shifting up and down the freewheel since the Shimano freewheel has the Hyperglide technology, other branded freewheels do not. I cannot recommend this bicycle to anyone with the drivetrain any other way than that.
